Construction Project - KPIII

Abstract
Company Topf GmbH develops, manufactures, and distributes turning and milling machines of all kinds. In addition to state-of-the-art, CNC-controlled multi-axis machining centers, it also offers the development and further development of conventional machine tools. One of its customers wants to purchase a conventional lathe for the small-series production of simple turned parts.
The gearbox of the lathe must on the one hand enable the rotational movement of the chuck (and thus the workpiece) required for rotary cutting, and on the other hand, the tool slide must perform a feed movement that matches the workpiece speed. Only one speed is provided for the chuck, and the tool slide should be equipped with two forward gears and one reverse gear. The necessary conversion of the rotational movement into a translational movement is carried out using a trapezoidal thread. To protect people and materials, an overload clutch should be provided at a suitable point, which stops both the rotational movement of the chuck and the feed movement of the tool slide. From the previous negotiations between Topf GmbH and the customer, a sketch of the turned parts to be manufactured (Fig. 1), a (non-scale) schematic diagram of the gearbox (Section VII) as well as a list of technical data (Section VI) and framework conditions (Section II) were recorded. Your task is now to design the gearbox.
Additional Notes:
- The gearbox should be designed for small-series production of simple turned parts.
- The gearbox should have one speed for the chuck and two forward gears and one reverse gear for the tool slide.
- The gearbox should be equipped with an overload clutch to protect people and materials.
- The design should be based on the sketch of the turned parts to be manufactured, the schematic diagram of the gearbox, and the list of technical data and framework conditions.
